VIRTUAL KEYBOARD

Music Class has been great this week! We have been singing some really great Christmas songs and learning how to be a great ENSEMBLE.

What is an Ensemble? A group of musicians who work together, listen to each other, try to make the best possible sound together.
An ensemble is a musical team!

Now let's make a Piano Ensemble. Let's use our computer keyboards to work together, listen to each other, and play some of the Christmas songs we have been learning in class.

Native American Music

We have been studying Aerophones in class. We know that an aerophone is any instrument that uses air to produce a sound or tone. That means that a Native American flute is an Aerophone. Since it is made of wood, it is a Woodwind.

Here are some links to learn more about Native Americans, their music, and culture:

-Kids History - Famous Native Americans

-R Carlos Nakai - Official Website

-National Geographic - Native American Video

English: Up the creek I stand and wave,  see I am alone. Come here, Come here, quickly to me.

Thank you to all the people who have made these websites and videos so that we may use them in our Music Room to learn more about our world and other cultures!

Reggae Reggae

We are studying Reggae Music for the last few weeks of school in the music room. We have learned that Reggae music comes from the island of Jamaica. The Jamaicans started singing it in the late 1960s.

Reggae music uses drums, electric guitars, bass guitar, and the organ to make it's unique sound. Musicians use rhythms from Africa and melodies from Europe and the US to make this awesome music.

We learned that Robert (Bob) Marley was the most famous Reggae Musician of his time. In fact people still listen to his music today. We have been studying his song 'Three Little Birds'.

To learn more about Reggae Music, you should visit Chuck Vander Chuck over at the pbskids website! Click on Reggae to play games and see videos and learn more about this Jamaican music.
