70 Days of School

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

You made it through 70s days of school Jr Cards!

To celebrate we are looking at and listening to music from the 1970s.

The music in the 1970s was great! We had Rock, Disco, and the beginnings of Punk music.

My favorite 70s band was a group called The Pink Floyd.

They had a funny name, but made some great music.

Comment and let me know which video you watched that was your favorite!

Steel Drums

Here is the Flag of Trinidad and Tobago. They are island countries found inbetween the Carribean Sea and Atlantic Ocean. Steel Drums (a percussion instrument) come from Trinidad and Tobago. 4th grade students, can you tell me the name of the song we sang in class that comes from Trinidad?

Kye Kye Kule - Song from Ghana

Che Che Koolay
Che Che Kofinsa
Kofinsa Langa
Ka Ka Shi Langa
Whoops A Lye Lye

Che Che Koolay is a children's song that comes from Ghana.
This is a map of Ghana. Did you notice that Ghana sits on the Atlantic Ocean? What ocean does Onslow County sit on? If you said Atlantic, you are correct! We share the same big ocean!
Notice that Ghana has an Academy of African Music & Arts. An academy is a place you can go to study and learn. This academy specializes in Music! That sounds awesome!

Here is the flag of Ghana. How does it compare to our flag?
What is the same? What is different?
Comment and let me know.

Africa

These are some PERCUSSION instruments from AFRICA. I found this picture on the internet when I googled the words "africa percussion". It came from a website called drumdoctors.com. They sell, rent, and repair all kinds of percussion instruments.

Why don't you try a google search for different kinds of percussion instruments. See what kinds of pictures you can find and share with our class!
