What is Rhythm?

We have been studying Rhythm this week in the Music Room. All music is made up of Rhythm, but do you really know what it is? The Jr Cardinals do!
Rhythm is a pattern of sounds and silences

These Kindergartner's can play rhythms on percussion instruments.

Did you miss out on this week's class? Check out the video.

Reggae Reggae

We are studying Reggae Music for the last few weeks of school in the music room. We have learned that Reggae music comes from the island of Jamaica. The Jamaicans started singing it in the late 1960s.

Reggae music uses drums, electric guitars, bass guitar, and the organ to make it's unique sound. Musicians use rhythms from Africa and melodies from Europe and the US to make this awesome music.

We learned that Robert (Bob) Marley was the most famous Reggae Musician of his time. In fact people still listen to his music today. We have been studying his song 'Three Little Birds'.

To learn more about Reggae Music, you should visit Chuck Vander Chuck over at the pbskids website! Click on Reggae to play games and see videos and learn more about this Jamaican music.
